It doesn’t matter what stage your business is currently in, we all want to push and get it to the next level. The truth is we are always juggling and multitasking, trying to spin multiple plates in our lives striving to get ahead. In my career I have always searched for anything I can do to improve my business and at the same time make my life easier, as I am sure you can all relate.
What I found to be most helpful was finding someone I could hold me accountable. I believe accountability is necessary for entrepreneurs, especially women, since we all deal with ups and downs and volatility and strive for some sense of order in our lives. Accountability is a self managed partnership. When we hold ourselves accountable to someone else, we have a better chance of recognizing when we are veering off track. It’s so much easier to get a handle on where we are and make course corrections as needed then to just react when it’s probably too late.
Here are 4 powerful reason why accountability creates success:
- Your performance will improve – We all work harder to achieve our goal when we tell someone what we are going to do.
- You will feel more confident – When you tell someone what you are going to do, and you work harder at achieving it, you feel more confident in your abilities.
- You will feel more competent – When you see results you feel better about your abilities.
- You will feel more satisfied with your business – When you do more and hit your goals you feel a sense of accomplishment. When you accomplish more you feel better about your business in general.
Anyone can start an accountability system. Here is what you can do today:
Find a group or an individual who will agree to be accountable to one another. Establish clear goals and expectations. You have to have transparent and honest communication that will enable one another to give positive and critical feedback on performance and progress. Develop a follow-up system of accountability. How often will you meet? Allow for regular meetings that will track not only performance but results. When you train yourself to set goals and declare them and commit to doing what you say you are going to do, you will see tremendous results quickly.
