Clarity – The quality or state of being clear. Freedom from indistinctness or ambiguity. The quality or condition of being clear and easy to understand.
It is the time of year where we all reflect on how the year went, we start writing out our goals for the new year. I personally always reaffirm my why an reassess my vision. When my business partner, Vanessa Coppes, and I spoke about our theme for ETTWomen in 2017 I was focused on vision, and she started talking about clarity. One of the things I have always taught when coaching entrepreneur’s is that you must have a CCMP. A clear concise mental picture of what you want. A crystal clear vision. I read that over 20 years ago in one of my all time favorites, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
The absence of clarity will produce a cloudy vision. It is hard to sell your vision if you aren’t even clear on what it is. Does that make sense? When she started talking about zone of genius I agreed that it encompasses vision, CCMP, goals, working your special gifts. and pulls it all together. So what could be better than having our theme for 2107 be Clarity in your zone of genius.
What is your zone of genius? Your zone of genius is where your greatest passion meets your innate talent. It is unique to you and it fits your personality traits like a finely tailored glove.
How do you know when you’re in it? You get so lost in your work that you don’t notice time passing. Vanessa Coppes is a branding expert, so over the years she has taught me that as a small business owner, your brand should reflect this. It helps you stand out to potential clients and competitors as truly authentic.
Discovering your zone of genius starts with the understanding of your innate talent: it is not about what you do, but how you do it. True talent has more to do with how you approach your work. The key is describing the experience your customers will have using your product or service through your copy, titles, taglines, and descriptions. You’ll make the buying process easier for your customers.
People have to choose you between hundreds of others. If you are clear about your passion and why you are doing what you’re doing, it provides an additional connection point with your clients. Simon Sinek, once said, “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”
