In this world of innumerable distractions, it is so easy to be taken hold by any one of them and to lose sight of what our priority was for the day. These challenges can impede us from getting what we needed to get done that day accomplished. Unfortunately distractions are a part of our lives. Especially when you are trying to run a business and take care of your family at the same time.
Here are some hopefully helpful tips to becoming better at managing our daily distractions:
- Get up early – When you get up early it gives you much more time to manage anything unexpected that comes your way.
- Plan ahead – Write down the list of things you need to accomplish the night before so when you get up they are ready for you to look at.
- Prioritize your tasks – Take a look at your list and mark whatever is non negotiable for the day as urgent and focus on accomplishing only those tasks.
- Take action – After you managed your distraction, go right to your urgent task. Avoid time wasters such as non urgent tasks. That includes email, social media, gossip and anything that will keep you from what you must accomplish.
These steps cannot avoid the distractions that will inevitably come up but they will make the situation more controllable. Many times the reason that we we react negatively to our challenges is because we feel lack of control. Despite the ambiguity, taking time to organize your tasks using personal judgment can avoid time wasters and improve your overall satisfaction with your time management. So I suggest tonight you write down what you want to get done tomorrow and you will be on your way to having a productive day!
